TRUSTyFOOD brings together 13 partners from 7 EU countries and 1 third country to support the development of a Strategic Research Agenda for blockchain technologies in the agri-food sector. The project addresses the fragmented landscape of blockchain applications by identifying their benefits, opportunities, and limitations across the food value chain. It combines systematic analysis of existing pilots, best practices, and stakeholder insights to better understand adoption drivers and barriers, including technical and non-technical aspects such as interoperability, business models, standardisation, and regulatory frameworks. Through strong stakeholder engagement, TRUSTyFOOD translates real user needs into operational requirements and future service frameworks. The project will deliver White Papers, a comprehensive roadmap, and a service framework to guide policy makers, industry, and researchers in future blockchain deployment in agri-food systems.

CERTH/ITI plays a key role in TRUSTyFOOD by contributing to the strategic planning and policy-oriented outputs of the project. In particular, CERTH leads Work Package 5 (Intervention Action Plan), focusing on the development of the roadmap, White Papers, and service framework for blockchain adoption. It also contributes to stakeholder engagement activities and the assessment of blockchain’s impact on sustainable and inclusive food systems.
