Iason Malkotsis holds a BSc in Applied Informatics, with a specialization in Computer Science, from the University of Macedonia. Since 2025, he has worked as a Research Software Developer at the Information Technologies Institute (ITI) of the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH).

Within European research projects, he develops web platforms, backend services and APIs using Python, TypeScript and relational databases. His work includes deploying and integrating research AI models into applications, as well as building decision-support systems that combine language models, tool use and human review. He has contributed to applications for manufacturing, procurement workflows and sensor-based monitoring. His responsibilities also include implementing user interfaces, containerizing software and operating services in cloud environments and on the institute’s infrastructure.

His professional interests include distributed systems, applied artificial intelligence and reliable software for research applications.
