The REALLOCATE project aims to accelerate the transition of European cities towards climate neutrality through integrated, innovative and inclusive solutions for sustainable urban mobility. At the core of the project is the redesign of streets and public spaces, with the aim of reallocating urban space in favour of safer, more accessible and climate-friendly mobility options, with a particular focus on active mobility, such as walking and cycling. REALLOCATE will develop and implement a Safe Climate-Neutral Mobility system, combining urban design interventions, technological and digital tools, behavioural approaches, participatory co-design processes, and data-driven monitoring and evaluation methods. Within the project, ten European cities of the EU Mission “100 Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities by 2030” will be supported in developing local innovation ecosystems and implementing pilot interventions in fifteen urban and peri-urban areas facing road safety challenges. These interventions will focus on improving the safety of vulnerable road users, enhancing accessibility and social inclusion, reducing dependence on private cars, and promoting fairer, more affordable and sustainable mobility choices. Through the establishment of Safe & Sustainable Mobility Labs, the use of smart monitoring systems, modelling and data analysis, and the continuous engagement of citizens and stakeholders, REALLOCATE will contribute to the development of new policy directions, tools and urban design guidelines for safer, greener and more human-centred cities.

ITI/CERTH actively participates in the technical implementation of the REALLOCATE project, with a main focus on the development of digital tools and artificial intelligence-based solutions to support the pilot cities. In particular, ITI contributes to the development of tools that facilitate the collection, processing and exploitation of mobility data, as well as to the implementation of the REALLOCATE Distributed Dashboard, which functions as a central environment for the visualisation and monitoring of project data and performance indicators. Through these activities, ITI/CERTH supports cities in evidence-based monitoring of the progress of their interventions and in better understanding their impacts on sustainable, safe and inclusive urban mobility.
