The PATH project aims to create a Patient AI Treatment Hub, with a focus on improving cancer care through the safe, reliable and responsible use of digital technologies. The project seeks to integrate artificial intelligence tools into clinical workflows, with the aim of supporting decision-making, personalised treatment, patient monitoring and the improvement of the quality of healthcare services provided. A central element of PATH is the development of a federated and secure health data space, designed with privacy protection in mind, which will enable the interoperable and secure use of data in alignment with European directions for health data. At the same time, the project will make use of methods such as federated learning, secure processing environments, and mechanisms for transparency and bias mitigation, so that artificial intelligence models become more reliable, explainable and suitable for use in real clinical settings. Through the development of a digital platform and dashboard, PATH will connect healthcare professionals, patients, research organisations and technology providers, supporting the selection, assessment and clinical validation of artificial intelligence tools. Through pilot studies at European level, the project aims to enhance the effectiveness, sustainability and quality of cancer care, contributing to the transition towards a safer, evidence-based and patient-centred healthcare ecosystem.

CERTH/ITI participates in the technical implementation of the PATH project, contributing to the development and use of artificial intelligence solutions for healthcare applications. Its contribution is mainly related to improving data quality, security and protection, supporting the processing and harmonisation of clinical data, as well as participating in technical solutions for the reliable and safe development of medical artificial intelligence tools. Through these activities, CERTH/ITI supports the integration of reliable and interoperable digital solutions into clinical practice, while ensuring the protection of privacy.
