The EOSC-ARENA project will deliver a sovereign, generative and agentic AI environment integrated with the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC), serving as a scientific assistant across the full research lifecycle, from literature review and hypothesis generation to analysis, reporting and provenance capture. It builds a scalable multi-agent system and a marketplace for GenAI agents and services, with federated training and inference, secure generation with augmented search, and integrations based on the Model Context Protocol. The system will be deployed on EU e-infrastructures and be interoperable with EOSC EU nodes, with twelve real-life use cases from different scientific domains co-designing and assessing the solutions. The project also provides community engagement, skills development and guidance for responsible, human-centric AI, strengthening the interoperability, FAIRness and sustainability of AI in European research.

CERTH (through ITI and the Institute of Applied Biosciences – INAB) leads WP12 “GenAI Model Pre-training and Post-training for Science” and WP17 “Open, FAIR, and Reproducible GenAI Assets”. It contributes to federated GenAI model serving at scale (WP8), leading the tasks on API compatibility and integration (T8.2) and model context switching between GenAI systems (T8.3). It also takes part in the design and piloting of learning paths (T13.3, T14.4), use case support and capacity building (WP14, WP15), and model and asset quality and provenance (T17.2, T17.3).
