In the last few years research shown extended efforts for the diagnosis and prediction of neurodegenerative diseases and more specifically MCI- Mild Cognitive Impairment, and its evolution to Alzheimer Disease (AD) etc. Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) causes a slight but noticeable and measurable decline in cognitive abilities, including memory and thinking skills. A person with MCI is at an increased risk of developing Alzheimer’s or another dementia. Undeniably, the major insufficiency for the prompt prediction and diagnosis as well as the deceleration of such diseases is the lack of a coordinated assessment and an extensive investigation regarding the effect of several variables (biological, environmental) such as activities of daily living to these mental disorders

The project En-NOHSIS in order to achieve this goal undertakes to connect dynamically basic with clinical research and accelerate the transformation of this innovative knowledge to targeted treatment and care for the end user (patient). Applying this knowledge in clinical applications the project will permit the development of improved diagnostic tools and as well as innovative non pharmaceutical therapeutic approaches (for instance the new biological indicators for MCI evolution and in time prediction as well as Alzheimer’s disease confrontation) for MCI and Alzheimer’s decease.

The main aim of En-NOHSIS is to offer an innovative cooperative approach of transformative research concerning Mental Disorders that will have the capability to

Assess continuously the MCI patient’s situation (scheduled or not) and regularly monitoring the biological and environmental parameters of patients from their homes

Monitor and record the regular and proper implementation of remote unobtrusive pharmaceutical interventions in order to accelerate the transformation of innovative knowledge into targeted treatment for the patient.

Allow to doctors that have undertaken patients’ care to monitor the provided treatments

Observe patients’ daily behavior, activities and also allow the bidirectional communication between the users of the proposed system

Provide to medical experts and also to researchers that study the factors of MCI appearance and its progression to Alzheimer Disease, a thorough archive of degenerative diseases in which incidents of patients with MCI and Alzheimer disease will be recorded by different groups of medical experts from the whole region of Greece
