CANDLE

The CANDLE project aims to scale up and improve existing (inter)national health data infrastructures by supporting the development of National Cancer Data Nodes (NCDNs). Cancer data, from both research and healthcare, remain hard to find, access, make interoperable and reuse, with barriers that are mainly organisational, social and cultural. The project aligns NCDNs with national implementations of the European Health Data Space (EHDS), identifies barriers to joining the UNCAN.eu and ECPDC platforms, and develops a ready-to-use resource kit and a maturation model for data users and NCDN developers. It contributes to the Cancer Mission and Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan.

CERTH (through ITI and INAB) participates as a partner and represents Greece as national node. It co-leads Task 4.3 “Assessing inequalities in competences and enhance knowledge exchange”, leading the development of learning paths that strengthen NCDN skills. It also contributes to the conceptualisation of NCDNs and their users (T2.1) and to stakeholder engagement and persona co-creation (T5.2).
