The AEGIS-NET project proposes the design of a cost-effective, mobile, autonomous, GNSS-independent and Electronic Warfare (EW)-tolerant short-range air defence (SHORAD) system for tactical C-UAS operations, protecting forward units exposed to loitering munition attacks. It integrates vehicle-mounted nodes and attritable fibre-optic tethered UAV interceptors with human-on-the-loop control, and delivers multi-parametric passive sensor fusion (EO, acoustic, RF/ESM, RGBD) for detection, tracking, identification and classification, intent prediction and intercept geometry, MARL-based swarm coordination, PNT-resilient navigation and communications, auditable engagement logic and a mobile docking station. Validation uses digital twins and hardware-in-the-loop to reach Critical Design Definition, strengthening European strategic autonomy with an indigenous, ITAR-free and interoperable C-UAS/SHORAD layer.

CERTH (through ITI) leads the technical and CONOPS management of the project (T1.2, T2.2) and WP4, WP5 and WP7. It develops the sensor fusion for threat detection, identification, classification and tracking, based on CERTH’s generic framework and anti-drone testbed, as well as the communication and cybersecurity layers (anomaly detection, anti-jamming). It leads integration planning and coordinates component and interoperability testing and validation (WP7), and contributes to the preliminary system design (WP6).
