Research Assistant

  • Bsc in Physics NKUA (2014)
  • Msc in Material Physics NKUA (2016)
  • PhD in Physics NKUA (2020)

Dr. Petros Andreas Pantazopoulos is a physicist and electromagnetic R&D engineer specializing in computational electromagnetics, photonics, magnetophotonics, and microwave imaging. He received his BSc in Physics, MSc in Materials Science, and PhD in Physics from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), where he graduated with distinction. His doctoral research focused on novel magnetophotonic nanostructures and cavity optomagnonics.

He has worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and IFIMAC in Spain, conducting research on quantum-light–matter interactions, computational modeling, and electromagnetic theory. He also contributed to advanced microwave breast imaging technologies at Microwave Vision Group in Greece and France, focusing on medical imaging algorithms, Maxwell-equation-based modeling, and signal processing.

Dr. Pantazopoulos has extensive experience in scientific programming and high-performance computational methods using MATLAB, Python, Julia, Fortran, and C/C++. He contributed to electromagnetic simulation platforms, including MULTEM and microwave imaging software for breast cancer detection. His research output includes 14 scientific publications, invited talks at international conferences, and contributions to interdisciplinary research projects in photonics and electromagnetics.

His current research interests include computational electromagnetics, AI-assisted electromagnetic applications, microwave imaging, nanophotonics, inverse problems, and light-driven phenomena in complex materials.
