Mrs. Maria Anna Pistela

Research Assistant

  • Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki

I graduated from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, specializing in Telecommunications. Since May 2025, I have worked at the Information Technologies Institute (ITI) of the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH) on wireless communications research projects, with a focus on reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS).

My work includes developing and evaluating simulations of RIS-assisted wireless environments, designing codebooks for signal focusing, and studying the effects of mutual coupling and reflections. I have also worked on using RIS responses for localization and for estimating target properties, such as orientation and shape, through data analysis and machine learning methods.

I have co-authored two research papers presented at IEEE ICC 2026 and IEEE CSR 2026; I am the first author of the latter. My diploma thesis focused on anisotropic Huygens metasurfaces and simulations using COMSOL Multiphysics.
