Christos Samaras is a Research Project Manager at the Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH), where he contributes to the management of Horizon Europe research projects, covering technical and administrative coordination, reporting, engineering deliverables, proposal preparation, and dissemination, exploitation and standardization activities.

He has a multidisciplinary background spanning research, software and systems engineering, project and team management, and governance. Throughout his career, he has held diverse roles including Project Manager, Technical Lead, Team Lead, Compliance Manager, Project Coordinator, Research Fellow, Software Engineer, Application Consultant, and academic and teaching positions. His experience combines technical implementation with the coordination of multidisciplinary teams, stakeholder collaboration, quality and risk management, information security and compliance, and the management of EU-funded research and innovation activities.

He has worked in academic and research environments including the Democritus University of Thrace, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, American College of Thessaloniki (ACT), Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH), and Athena Research Center. His research work has included collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA) and NASA on technologies for extending Internet communications into space.

His industry experience includes positions at Veltio, noris and Q-PLAN International, covering enterprise software, retail demand forecasting, Agile team leadership, compliance and information-security governance, and coordination of international EU-funded projects.

His research and technological interests include Computer Networks, Space Internetworking, Smart Cities, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Data Analytics, Distributed Systems, Retail Demand Forecasting, digital platforms, and trustworthy and secure information systems.
