Within the framework Η2020 ECOPOTENTIAL project, the CERTH/ITI Remote Sensing team (under the supervision of Dr. Manakos) collaborated closely with researchers from the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) in Doñana (EBD), to study wetland seasonal dynamics and hydroperiods duration and trends of Mediterranean wetlands via the utilization of satellite data (especially Copernicus ones, Sentinel-1 and -2). The Doñana National Park was selected as the study area. The value of the research results has been recognized by the European Space Agency (ESA), which hosts an extended article on its website describing the methodology used.
