Giorgos Rakkas was born in Thessaloniki in 1981. He studied Political Science at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and received his PhD from the Department of Sociology at Panteion University in 2017.

His research interests focus on the new social and political geography of the 21st century, as it is reshaped by global flows, technological disruption, and transformations in the global system. Among his published works are the following books, released by Enallaktikes Ekdoseis and Patakis Publishers:
