EUREKA is a Europe-wide network for industrial research
and development. EUREKA exists to create EUREKA projects - trans-border, market-oriented, hi-tech European RTD projects.
Its aim is to strengthen European competitiveness by promoting 'market-driven' collaborative RTD involving
industry and research institutes across Europe using advanced technologies resulting in cost-effective products,
processes and services.
The
EURO - HERMES brokerage event is going to be organized dedicated to the technological areas of Communications
and Information Technology. A brokerage event is actually a working conference, which provides all the means for a
successful and constructive interchange of technology among companies and research organizations from different European
countries and thus, offers a convenient way for contacts and discussions on issues on new technology, research ideas and
business opportunities. In this context, the brokerage event helps the formation of new European RTD projects.
The organization of the preparatory meeting for the brokerage event is to be held within the International Conference
on Augmented, Virtual Environments and Three-Dimensional Imaging in May 2001 in the Greek island of Mykonos.
This conference will be a good chance to prepare the actions to be taken in the brokerage event. Scientists in the
areas of Communications and Informatics will gather in this meeting in order to prepare the guidelines for the
forthcoming brokerage event.
