HP Labs activities in information retrieval from and indexing of audio, video, and image data are spread across three of the four centers within the lab. Research in the Internet and Computing Platforms center (under Patrick Scaglia) includes large-scale multimedia indexing, and image processing; end-to-end media-rich infrastructure, supporting the
transformation to digital content; and systems to deliver user-specific rich media services within a streaming network overlay. Research in the Printing and Imaging center (under Howard Taub) includes image and video processing, compression, and multimedia analysis and management. Research in the Solutions and Services center (under Kris
