Fondazione Ugo Bordoni (FUB) (P11) is an Italian non-profit organization founded in 1952 "to aid and promote scientific and applied research in the field of telecommunications, computing science, electronics and postal services".

The Multimedia Communication Division, among the other activities, currently works on classifying images into categories defined in terms of natural language, or by examples not simply related to the searched images.

Recognition and classification of image content is performed by detecting basic meaningful features and by analysing their relationship into the scene under examination in the context of a well defined "description scheme".
